Hi, I'm Alec.
I'm a software engineer in New Jersey with 4+ years of professional experience. I started in Android, building launchers used by a large audience. Then I shipped my own app solo, and for the past year I've been the only engineer at a construction company. There I build the full-stack tools and automation the business runs on.
How I work
I like owning a problem end to end: talking to the people who need a thing, choosing the architecture, building it, shipping it, and fixing it when it breaks. Being a sole engineer has made me comfortable across the stack and honest about tradeoffs.
AI is part of how I build, not just what I build. Claude Code is my primary development workflow, and I design agent systems with guardrails: local processing where privacy matters, structured data so agents don't guess, and hard limits agents can't override.

Designed, built, and shipped NextUp Launcher with its cloud backend, icon-theming engine, and ad pipeline.
Water Rabbit Studios
Built Stellar AI, an OpenAI-powered Android app for personalized content generation. I owned the architecture, backend, and data layer.
ReachMobi
Led the News Home and Weather Mode launchers for a large Android audience, and raised the launcher default-set rate from ~55% to 75%+ through cold-start work. Built REST layers with batching, caching, and prefetch, and wrote the Swift UI for a native iOS news app.
